Sailfish season

Sailfish charters out of Stuart, Florida.

Stuart calls itself the Sailfish Capital of the World. A private trip is the easiest way to give your group a real shot at one.

When is sailfish season in Stuart?

Sailfish are caught off Stuart for much of the year, but the best stretch is usually late fall through early spring, roughly November to March. Cold fronts push the fish down the coast, and the days after a front are often the best.

How a sailfish trip works

Most sailfish trips go a few miles offshore and fish live bait or kites. When a fish bites, the mate hands you the rod and walks you through it. Expect jumps, runs, and a lot of noise from your group.

Catch and release

Sailfish are released after a quick photo next to the boat. You go home with the photo and the story. On the same trip you may also catch mahi, kingfish or tuna you can keep.

Good for first-timers?

Yes. You don’t need experience. The crew does the setup and coaching. If anyone in your group is prone to seasickness, take medicine the night before and the morning of the trip.
